A Hypothetical Extraction Method Decomposition of Intersectoral and Interprovincial CO2 Emission Linkages of China’s Construction Industry

Understanding the complex CO2 emissions in inter-sectoral and interregional interactions of construction industry is significant to attaining sustainability China. Many previous studies focused on aggregating sector’s a national level, with provincial characteristics often overlooked. Using extended environmental input–output tables, we adopted hypothetical extraction method combined extended-environmental multi-regional tables for 2012, 2015, 2017 data decompose linkages 30 sectors. The carbon from complete system boundary informed recategorization China’s sector as high-carbon-intensity industry. interprovincial results show relatively small backward compared forward depicting industry’s role economic growth an essential target reduction plans. provinces exhibited different impacts directional push–pull, less developed having one-way effects. more sectors behaved like demand-driven industries creating overall imbalance interaction between emission trades. We identified Gansu, Xingjian, Ningxia, Inner Mongolia most critical, than other provinces. Improving technical level sectors, considering policy formulation, swift shift renewable energy primary source would aid reducing intensities sector, especially provinces, achieving quest reach peak by 2030.
